Apply to be our 2022 Scholarship Recipient

The Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation would like to invite all active high school aged 4-H and FFA participants to apply for this year’s Heritage Foundation Scholarship and the chance to raise the 2022 Heritage Animal. Along with raising the Heritage Animal, the scholarship winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship (see requirements below) and several other rewards. We are also offering a $500 scholarship to the Runner-Up.

Over the past nineteen years, the sale of the Heritage Animal has contributed more than $1,000,000 to the Heritage Foundation. Since the Orradre Building revitalization project has been completed, the Heritage Foundation continues to work on various fair improvement projects. Please consider applying to be a part of the Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation history.

2022 Scholarship Recipient - Wesley Hill

Heritage Foundation Selects Scholarship Winner

Wesley Hill of Salinas High School FFA, selected as 2022 Scholarship Winner

Wesley Hill, a senior at Salinas High School, is very honored to be this year’s SVF Heritage Foundation Scholarship Winner. He is an outstanding high school student who goes above and beyond. He is not only the current president of Salinas High School FFA, he is also a current active member of San Benancio 4-H and the Monterey 4-H Council. Besides those activities, Wesley is also on the Salinas High Varsity Water Polo and Swim teams!

When asked why he should be chosen to raise the SVFHF Scholarship Animal, he responded, “I feel my experiences showing livestock have been some of the most rewarding moments of my life, and to do that in order to benefit the community would mean so much to me!” He also feels that the Salinas Valley Fair is “a home away from home with boundless opportunities for growth.” Previously, Wesley raised lambs for the Salinas Valley Fair. This is his first year raising a steer. Though challenging, he has learned a lot and has grown from his experience.
