Apply to be our 2025 Scholarship Recipient

The Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation would like to invite all active high school aged 4-H and FFA participants to apply for this year’s Heritage Foundation Scholarship and the chance to raise the 2024 Heritage Animal. Along with raising the Heritage Animal, the scholarship winner will receive a $2,500 scholarship (see requirements below) and several other rewards. We are also offering a $500 scholarship to the Reserve Winner (runner-up).

Over the past twenty-one years, the sale of the Heritage Animal has contributed more than $2,000,000 to the Heritage Foundation. Since the Orradre Building revitalization project has been completed, the Heritage Foundation continues to work on various fair improvement projects. Please consider applying to be a part of the Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation history.

2024 Scholarship Recipient - Saul Guijarro

Anahi Lopez Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation Scholarship Winner

Saul Guijarro, a member of Rancho San Juan FFA, is our 2024 Salinas Valley Fair Heritage Foundation Animal Scholarship winner. He is raising a
lamb for this year’s SVF Heritage Animal. Saul is currently a freshman at Hartnell College studying Plant and Soil Science. He then plans on
continuing his education at CSUMB in their new Plant and Soil Science program. The $2500 he will be receiving, as well as the other benefits
associated with winning the scholarship, will help him in his endeavors.

Saul joined Rancho San Juan FFA as a freshman. He began raising lambs, and in his junior year he stepped out of his comfort zone and became his chapter’s secretary. He then was voted in as vice president his senior year. “The most rewarding thing about being in FFA are the skills and attributes I have gained from being an active member. I am proud of the person I have become! It has given me the confidence to be a leader and I enjoy giving back by helping others,” he said.

Saul is very proud to be this year’s scholarship recipient. “I get to help give back to my community, and I feel privileged to be a part of raising money to help improve and maintain the Salinas Valley Fair,” stated Saul. Saul and his family have enjoyed all that the fair has to offer, and he feels that this has helped him appreciate the role the Salinas Valley Fair and the Heritage Foundation have played in promoting agricultural and other events at the fairgrounds.

Saul is looking forward to returning to the showring one last time with his lamb to show the hard work he has put into raising him for the SVFHF. He has represented the SVFHF very well in helping at various events and spreading the word about the scholarship and what the foundation is about. We are very excited for him and his future endeavors.
